Investigations for Meta, lawyer: SPAK with political agenda

Kujtim Cakrani, lawyer for Freedom Party President Ilir Meta, was invited to the morning show on Syri TV, where he gave his comments after Meta's case went to trial.

Kujtim Cakrani: The elections are over and there is no longer any interest in continuing the investigations against Mr. Meta. And so the agenda of the prosecution, which Meta himself has expressed, is on the political agenda and this is unfortunate.

But in any case, Mr. Meta's battle will continue. He even told the prosecutors two days ago that even if you were to close this case, I would not allow it, because I want to face the entire mountain of accusations that you have made in court. With the mountain of all the slanders that you have made against me and I want to face the persons who are thought to be witnesses or those who have knowledge of these facts that the prosecution believes are criminal offenses in court. And so we are at this procedural moment when the investigations have not yet been completed.

The charges have simply been communicated to him and the defendant has been arrested, but we still do not have the final act of completion of the investigations that would give us the opportunity to make our requests based on the provisions of the procedural code.

Flavio Qarri: Even the media close to the government blame Mr. Meta, but there are also other names of former LSI. Is there something wrong here?

Kujtim Cakrani: I want to reserve myself from giving more details since the case is still under investigation. I do not want to mention names here. I want to speak only legally and say that there are three charges that currently weigh on Mr. Meta. It is the famous CEZ - DIA charge that has been registered since the prosecution for serious crimes and after its merger and the birth of SPAK, it was reborn again and was registered by SPAK in 2019. And the misfortune is that at the time that President Meta was President of the Republic, the prosecution, in violation of legal provisions and the constitution, has carried out procedural actions that actually conflict with the procedure because when a person is in office as a former president, he must be aware but also be questioned. They have taken actions contrary to the law without the knowledge of the president and thus they have also committed abuse of office.

However, this is a moment when there is no one to control SPAK, no one to investigate SPAK, no one to hold them accountable, because here you know that only one person holds you accountable, the others don't ask them at all. As for the issue of lobbying, it should be understood very well that there is no criminal offense there. They are simply stupid coffee shop conversations.

And they have taken these and materialized them into accusations. And in order not to give the rest, declaration, non-declaration, these problems of a family nature that Mr. Meta may not have been aware of the actions that his family members may have committed. Because he did not make the declarations himself.

His wife would do it through a notary and so on. There are several criminal offenses that he is accused of, but in fact they will be dismantled the moment they appear in court and undoubtedly the evidence there will be transparent because it will be a public trial.
