Eleven arrested in Pristina, Gjilan and Gjakova/ Suspected of helping young

Kosovo Police announced that eleven people have been arrested on suspicion of helping candidates obtain driver's licenses in exchange for material benefits.

Police said they searched ten locations in the Pristina, Gjilan and Gjakova regions for this case, including private homes, regional offices of the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and businesses with driving school activities, on May 29.

According to the Police, the case has been investigated for several months and evidence has been obtained that the arrested have committed the following criminal offenses: abuse of official position or authority, accepting bribes in the private sector, exercising influence and unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons.

Authorities announced that evidence was seized during the search, including an AK47 rifle, two pistols, cartridges of various calibers, cash (16,145 euros and 6,660 Swiss francs), mobile phones, computers, USBs and other documents important to the case.

The announcement said that the suspects were sent for interview and by decision of the prosecutor in the case, ten of them were taken into custody for 48 hours, while one of the arrested was released in a regular procedure.

In the past, authorities had also arrested officials from the Ministry of Infrastructure for providing candidates with driver's licenses in exchange for material benefits./ REL
