Rama has no one to write to.

Rama has no one to write to.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez's colonel character waits every day for a letter that never arrives - a promise, a pension, a sign that he has not been forgotten.

But with each passing day, the silence becomes heavier than words. And after a while, the colonel realizes that there is no one left to write to him.

Today, this phrase sounds terribly relevant in Albanian politics. After the elections, while the US embassy chose to greet only the Albanian people, it left out of the congratulations precisely the one who was once the "colonel" of close relations with the internationals: Edi Rama.

Instead of the usual congratulations on the "success of the process," we have a dry statement, without mentioning names, without any appreciation for the government, and above all, without the seal of that "strategic partnership" that was once used as an ornament.

A silence that in diplomacy is anything but accidental.

Instead of a congratulatory message to the traditional “winner,” the statement was a dry, technical message addressed to citizens – not their representatives.

And in a country where politics is hungry for international legitimacy, this is a cold, clear signal: there is something big wrong.

So there's no one to write to the Colonel anymore. Because even diplomacy, no matter how gentle its words, has its ways of attracting attention.

And when she chooses silence instead of congratulations, it means that something has been consumed - be it trust, credibility, or patience.

This is no longer the Edi Rama of 2013 who was expected as the "savior of reforms."

Today is a prime minister who, for the first time since the elections, receives neither a letter, nor congratulations, nor an invitation for cooperation. And this silence is more shocking than any criticism.

Albania seeks to move forward, but the question that arises is: in which direction is it moving when even those who once supported it no longer write to it?

Rama has clearly received the message with the silence that pierces his ears and sleep and shook his rotten government.
