Socialist MP and SP candidate in Tirana in the May 11 elections, Pandeli Majko, has commented on the arrest of Freedom Party president Ilir Meta, who is currently in prison.

Invited to News24, Majko, who was a political colleague with Meta as part of the SP, shared his thoughts on this past period and Meta's departure from the SP to create the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI).

He described Ilir Meta as someone who "went to the school of elephants", but who, according to him, later created the "party of foxes".

However, he emphasized that, despite the differences between them, Meta remains his childhood friend and someone he has known for a long time.

Asked if he had attempted to meet Meta or the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, in prison, he said: " I have not attempted, not because I lack courage, but I think there would be misunderstandings in the corridors of politics."
