After the meeting, the African official confuses Rama: I have the privilege of waiting for the president...
Kenya's Foreign Affairs Secretary Korir Sing'oei shared a post on social media describing how privileged he was to meet Albanian President Bajram Begaj in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Sing'oei said he received President Begaj ahead of a meeting with President William Ruto on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which is taking place in the city.
"I have the privilege of waiting for H.T. Bajram Begaj, President of Albania, before his meeting with President Ruto in Dubai," the Chief Secretary wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, at 12:57 p.m.
But the photo he attached to the post showed Korir Sing'oei smiling at Edi Rama.
The journalist, Mwangi Maina, replicated his post by writing: "This is the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, not President Bajram Begaj."
Sing'oei deleted the post immediately and at 16:27 he posted another post correctly identifying Prime Minister Rama.
"I have the privilege of waiting for H.T. Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Albania, before his meeting with President Ruto in Dubai on the margins of COP28", he writes in the new post.
