The head of the DP, Sali Berisha, has commemorated the 36th anniversary of the death of the writer and martyr poet Havzi Nela. 

From the civic gathering, Berisha said that Nela was with his poems, the messenger, he was the last messenger of the dictatorship and its overthrow. 

Berisha : Today all Albanians bow with the greatest respect to the work, the memory, the invincible spirit, the true tribune of freedoms and human rights, the dissident poet, Havzi Nela, who 36 years ago with the signature of the last communist dictator, Ramiz Ali, with the signature of the sculptor, executioner of intellectuals, Kristaq Rama was publicly hanged in the city of Kukës, just one day before the fall of the Berlin wall.
The hanging with a rope of the martyr of free speech, of the brave legend, of the ardent patriot, constitutes one of the most macabre acts of the communist dictatorship in its last throes.
Havzi Nela was with his poems, the messenger, he was the last messenger of the dictatorship and its overthrow.
With his verses about freedoms and human rights, with his verses about the spirit of Helsinki, he deeply shocked the only regime in Europe that had not signed the Helsinki Charter, believing that in this way it would escape from its spirit.
Havzi Nela embodied this spirit in his immortal poems as a dedication to freedom for the Albanians.
He knew that the dictator, the chief executioner of the regime and other executioners would take his life. But for him, better dead than alive in the savage yoke of the communist dictatorship.
Havzi Nela was hanged, they tried in every way to stigmatize him and spread the terror of his hanging, but today and forever he is in the pantheon of freedom of the Albanian nation, while his executioners, Ramiz Aliaj, Kristaq Rama burn in the hell of shame of the crime, of the terror they caused their nation and with which they ordered the deathless poet to be hanged.
