Berisha: In 2013, €140 million was set aside for irrigation, no one knows what happened to it
The head of DP Sali Berisha held a conversation with farmers regarding the current state of agriculture and the lack of subsidies from the government.
Berisha said that in 2013, 140 million euros were left ready with the World Bank for irrigation, that it is not known where they ended up. The chief democrat said that the government has not done anything for the use of the HEC of Banja, which was built precisely for irrigation.
"Albania is a country full of water. Irrigation programs are a spectacular failure. In 2013, 140 million euros were made available with the World Bank for irrigation. No one knows what happened to them. Banja HPP was built under the condition that it would be a large irrigation project as well as an energy project. Nothing has been done to start a plant or canals to use this dam for irrigation," said Berisha.
