College of presidents: DP to elect the president by July 15

The College of Chairmen of the Democratic Party declares that the party should without any delay choose its chairperson and start the organization and selection of the teams that will lead this party to the next elections. They suggest that the process for electing the president be completed by July 15, 2023.

according to the College, a year has been wasted waiting for the party's unification, but without result and according to them, this has affected the damage and weakening of the Democratic Party.

FULL STATEMENT:

The College of Presidents of the Democratic Party, gathered on June 5, 2023, after hearing and discussing it, unanimously approved the statement as follows:

Declaration of the College of Chairmen of the Democratic Party

Since March 2022, the Democratic Party has made continuous efforts, but to no avail, for the unification of the Democrats,

- the resignation of the chairman in order to pave the way for the unification, which did not happen,
- the request for the organization of joint elections, which was rejected,
- the request for the selection of candidates in the May 14 elections, which was rejected and continued with one-sided processes,
- the proposal to come out with a joint candidate for the local elections of May 14, accepting the candidates of the primaries

All these attempts were rejected. A year has been lost waiting for the unification, but without result and this has affected the damage and weakening of the Democratic Party.

The leaders of the Democratic Party from the sections, group sections, heads of branches have worked with dedication to prevent the assimilation of the Democratic Party or its annihilation. We are determined that the Democratic Party will continue to be an allied party of the USA, Great Britain and the EU, to become an alternative and hope for Albanians in the general elections of 2025.

For these reasons, every day lost does not serve either the Democratic Party or the Democrats. The Democratic Party should without any delay choose its chairman and start the organization and selection of the teams that will lead this party towards the next elections. The Democratic Party cannot continue to stay without a leader any longer. DP has wasted time waiting, while there is no reflection from the other side, even after the results of the May 14 elections.
The process for electing the president should be completed by July 15, 2023.

If we continue to wait, then this only serves the project of our political opponents. No more time should be lost for the organization of the DP, the election of leaders and the transformation of the Democratic Party into the political force that Albanians are looking for today.
