The Democratic Party has denounced today how Rexh Byberi, placed under 'house arrest' by SPAK, has decided to bypass the municipal council and appoint the commanding mayor of Tropoja municipality.

The spokeswoman for anti-corruption in the DP, Genta Vangjeli, during a statement at the headquarters of the DP, has denounced another fact.

According to her, Byberi has turned a coffee bar into an office, where he goes and signs letters, documents and documents.

"The Mayor of Tropoja Municipality, Rexh Byberi, denounced by the Democratic Party, and by the investigative show 'Piranjat', for a series of violations with procurement procedures and not only, is today under the security measure of 'house arrest'.

Byberi is accused of 'Misuse of duty' in collaboration, for the project idea of ​​building the road 'Palç Ship Station - Guri i Lules', causing a damage of 2.7 million euros.

Although under security measures, he continues unconcerned with violations of the law.

After communicating the security measure 'house arrest', Mr. Byberi usurping the powers of the Municipal Council as the only body that carries out orders in the event of a vacancy of the mayor, Mr. Byberi commanded the deputy mayor, Mrs. Zyra Islamja, in the office of the mayor of Tropoja.

The Democratic Party urgently appeals for the respect of the law, which must be equal for everyone, therefore it is immediately requested:

1. Repeal of the internal order of the mayor under arrest no. 292, dated 09.09.2024.

2. The appointment of one of the vice-presidents by majority vote by the municipal councilors to perform the duties of the mayor;

3. The law enforcement bodies should closely monitor compliance with the 'house arrest' security measure by this person," Vangjeli said in her statement at the blue headquarters.
