Albania is the country with the highest % of citizens struggling to make ends meet, PD: The living wage is necessary

Albania is the country with the highest % of citizens struggling to make ends

Statement by DP MP, Zheni Gjergji:

Edi Rama calls the concerns raised by the Opposition about the poverty of almost half of the population slander and untruths

When any media outlet reflects this reality, it labels it a "pot." According to him, anyone who criticizes is blinded by the great achievements of the government and himself.

What do citizens themselves say in a recent survey conducted by the Regional Cooperation Council, an organization supported by the European Union?

Albanians rank first in terms of annual dissatisfaction, such as in the economy, public services, basic needs, high prices, low pensions, lack of employment opportunities, poor access to health services.

93% of Albanians think that pensions in Albania are insufficient, the highest level of dissatisfaction compared to countries in the region where the perception ranges from 48% to 70%.

99% of citizens view the increase in prices in general with concern, a level that is extremely high compared to other countries in the region, which ranges from 55-80%.

48% of citizens are completely dissatisfied with the health service, again a high level compared to other countries in the region, where it fluctuates between 25-40%.

Only 1% of Albanians are completely satisfied with their healthcare, but even this figure is 3 to 6 times less compared to countries in the region.

74% of citizens are dissatisfied with care for the elderly, a figure twice as high as the average for countries in the region.

93% of citizens express concern about the level of salaries, a percentage that is very high compared to the regional average, reflecting a deep economic crisis and increased cost of living.

47% of citizens admit that they pay out-of-pocket for healthcare, twice as much as in countries in the region.

SecuriMeter 2024 highlights that Albania, in the last 4 reports, is the country with the highest percentage of citizens struggling to make ends meet.

This data speaks to the reality that the government is trying to hide.

Poverty is among us and at alarming levels.

After 12 years of the Renaissance, only the accounts of the government officials have been revived, citizens have lost in income and gained in uncertainty.

The latest report published by SecuriMeter 2024 confirms the deteriorating state of the overall economic situation of Albanian citizens with a 13% decrease compared to the previous year.

Therefore, the Democratic Party has drafted a complete Economic Emergency package for the first 110 days of government.

Starting with a living wage of 200 euros, a 20% increase in pensions above the living wage, setting a minimum wage of 500 euros, an average wage of 1,200 euros, the application of a consumer card that reimburses VAT on food baskets for those in need, and indexation of electricity and water for pensioners and people in need.

No country can move forward if half of the people are in poverty.

Citizens have the power to overcome the threshold of misery that Edi Rama has brought Albania to with the May 11 vote.
