2025 elections, Berisha: We will choose DP candidates in the primaries

Candidates for MPs in DP will be selected in primaries to participate in the 2025 parliamentary elections.  

This decision was ordered by the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, at the meeting of the Presidency of the Democratic Party this afternoon. 

 Berisha : I am begging you to clarify to each and every member of ours and to every citizen that what you voted in the parliament has nothing to do with the major problems of the elections, which have destroyed the equality of the elections, their character, ensured control of the citizens' will by the government.

On this occasion, I want to say that it was the PD that succeeded in voting to respect the constitutional right of over 1.5 million Albanians who are abroad. And I believe that no democrat should imagine that a party of citizens' freedoms and rights could allow itself to be the reason that that basic constitutional right was denied to Albanian citizens at the time that it had publicly announced that from 2012 onwards.

Together with it, the SP conditioned the review of the other court decision, and of course if we did not accept the review of that decision, today 1.6 million Albanians would be without the right to vote. We could not take that responsibility. That decision was reviewed and, that decision removed some of the artificial barriers that the court recommended.

We are a party that, for the election of deputies, is fixed in its statute with the Primaries mechanism.

Dear friends, not only was the electoral reform not accepted by Edi Rama, but as I pointed out above, none of the monstrous electoral crimes were punished by his justice. What does it mean that in the 2025 elections, his words that you haven't seen anything yet will come true. That he will use other mechanisms to steal the vote that we have not yet seen.

That such is his appetite for power, makes him give up any principle.

You saw him in Himare, he did not hesitate to bring voters from Dropulli to Himare, and to dismiss the general director of Civil Status just because he refused such an act.
