From Berisha 'non grata', Rama's attacks on SPAK, convicted former ministers, strong statements in 30 minutes with Yuri Kim

US Ambassador to Tirana, Yuri Kim commented on some of the most debated issues of the moment in an interview that lasted only 30 minutes on 'Open' on 'Nwës 24'.

She focused on the accusations of Prime Minister Edi Rama against SPAK, the US relationship with Sali Berisha and the PD whether the former prime minister regains the leadership of the PD, or the failure or not of the justice reform.

Can Berisha's non-wife be removed if the US administration changes?  

Kim : Over 200 people have been designated by the Secretary of State for significant corruption and have been barred from entering the US, them and their families.

Of these, zero cases have been repelled. I do not think it is realistic to think that a change of government would change the facts somewhat. The facts are clear and I think that every Albanian understands the facts.

US relations with an opposition led by Berisha

Kim : The US position on this issue is very, very clear but the bottom line is that we are not going to be dealing with someone who has been publicly declared by the Secretary of State for major corruption or for undermining democracy and it would be a disaster. if we did not have a normal relationship with a party with which we have had a special relationship for such a long time.

Kim : I think people in a democracy have the right to express their views. Sometimes they are based on facts, sometimes not, but despite this, they have the absolute right to express it. So I respect the views that are expressed.
