1 month after the flood in Vlora, no compensation! Prefect: The municipality has

A month after the biggest floods the city had ever seen, Vlora is back to normal, but the consequences of the damage they left behind are still great. Many homes, businesses and institutions were flooded a month ago, but until now, apart from promises, no one has been compensated.

"The municipality of Vlora has a fund for compensation from natural disasters and this fund is 17 million lek, while from the calculations for compensation of damages, about 60 million new lek are needed, which will be received by the government, while until the approval of it takes 2 months for the funds to go to help the residents" , said Adrian Vreshtazi, Director of Civil Emergencies at the Vlora Municipality.

"In order to compensate the family members, we as a prefecture are in negotiations with the government, since the municipality of Vlora does not have all the funds. As a prefecture, we have to do the work to fix the high water channels, cleaning, but also the demolition of constructions without permission" , said Kristo Kiço, the Prefect of the Vlora district.

The trauma of the floods was great for some people, among them Klementina Tafilaj who was swept away by the water in the 15 October neighborhood after the high water channel burst.

Kujtim Tafilaj, her husband, tells the difficult moments and says that his wife miraculously survived. When one month has passed since the floods, the hope of recovering the damages and receiving the promised compensation is the only hope left for the residents of Vlora./Top Channel
