AFP: In Albania, valuable objects are dug up everywhere and sold on the global

AFP has dedicated an article to the researchers of ancient and valuable objects in Albania. The French News Agency writes that in Albania "treasure hunters" dig without fear of being punished.

On the other hand, he points out that archaeologists are worried about the theft of national heritage, which is then sold to foreigners on the "black market".

Emphasizing that this act constitutes a crime, AFP says that the government has not taken the necessary measures to protect valuable objects.

It is further said that in the place known as the "Shadow of the Raven", Korçë, people have been digging for years to find rare objects. We recall that in January 1982, a treasure of ancient coins, consisting of 618 silver coins, was found at the "Shadow of the Raven".

AFP writes that illegal excavations have been recorded in almost every important archaeological site. The French media also brought to attention the destruction done to an 11th century church in the northeast of Tirana by robbers.

AFP says there is no official estimate for the value of the objects taken from Albania. But researchers are sure that some of the objects fell into the hands of international traffickers and were then sold at auctions to museums and private collections abroad.
