Fire in urban waste field, Libohova engulfed by thick smoke

A fire engulfed the urban waste collection point in Libohova this Monday afternoon, causing a thick layer of smoke over the area.

Fortunately, there are no immediate reports of danger to surrounding homes, but the heavy smoke has disturbed nearby residents and is spreading over large areas.

The Libohova fire department team is at the scene, while the Gjirokastra fire department has also been deployed with a water tanker to reinforce the intervention.

Sources from the scene indicate that the fire is suspected to be intentional, but there is still no official confirmation from the authorities about the cause of the fire. Police have launched investigations to clarify the circumstances and identify the perpetrators if intentional arson is confirmed.
