Great Britain warns tourists: Be careful with the fire situation in Albania, it

Great Britain has issued a warning to British tourists who choose to visit Albania.

The English media "Express UK" writes that Albania is becoming a common holiday destination for British travelers, but tourists are being warned about the potential security risks caused by the fires.

More than 120,000 UK nationals visit Albania each year as its tourism sector continues to experience difficult times.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has issued a warning to holidaymakers about the dangers and unpredictability of fires due to the dry and hot weather.

In a statement, the FCDO advised travelers to exercise caution, especially when visiting or moving through the countryside.

"Fires are common in Albania from April to October due to the dry and hot weather. Fires are very dangerous and unpredictable. You should be careful when visiting or driving through the countryside.

Make sure cigarette ends are properly extinguished, do not light fires or barbecues except in designated and marked areas and do not leave litter. Causing a fire or forest fire is a criminal offense in Albania. Penalties can range from fines to prison terms. Be careful if you are in or near an area affected by fires ," the announcement states.

For those who find themselves in or near an area affected by the fires, the FCDO issued specific instructions to ensure safety.

Travelers should immediately call the emergency services on 112, follow any instructions from local authorities and contact their airline or travel operator for assistance with travel back to the UK.

In the event that they require consular assistance, British nationals can contact the British Embassy in Tirana by calling +355 4 223 4973/4/5 during working hours or +44 207 008 5000 after hours.
