Laert Haxhiu, suspected of being the author of the Lushnja massacre, has been arrested in Greece. It is reported that the arrest took place in Ioannina by the Greek Police. The 31-year-old man was caught with a forged Greek residence permit, under the name MA, 32 years old.

Interpol Tirana continues the cooperation with Interpol Athens, in order to carry out the procedures for the extradition of this citizen to our country.

Another international operation for the capture of wanted citizens with high social risk is finalized.

The coded police operation "Exponent", for the capture of a citizen wanted internationally for crimes against the person.

Thanks to the provision of information by the State Police and the timely exchange of this information with the Greek counterparts, a citizen sentenced to 18 years in prison was caught in Ioannina, Greece, and arrested with the intention of extradition to our country.

With a forged Greek residence permit, the much-wanted Laert Haxhiu was captured and imprisoned.

Following the research work carried out in cooperation with partners, for the localization and capture of citizens declared internationally wanted, thanks to the information provided by the State Police structures and the exchange of information in real time between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Athens, it has been finalized the coded police operation "Exponenti".

In the framework of this operation, in Ioannina, the Greek Police made it possible to capture and arrest for the purpose of extradition the highly wanted Albanian citizen Laert Haxhiu, 31 years old, born in Lushnjë. This citizen was caught with a forged Greek residence permit, named MA, 32 years old.

The Lushnjë Judicial District Court, in 2017, sentenced this citizen to 18 years of imprisonment, for the criminal offenses "Murder in qualifying circumstances", remaining in the attempt and "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".

Interpol Tirana continues the cooperation with Interpol Athens, in order to carry out the procedures for the extradition of this citizen to our country.

The State Police continues the close cooperation with the partners, for the localization and capture of the citizens declared internationally wanted for criminal offenses in various fields, as well as to exchange information in real time regarding cross-border criminal activities, with the aim of identification and capture of persons or criminal groups that carry out these activities.
