Police take stock of May: 625 arrested and 415 thousand euros of assets seized

The State Police has published its work report for May 2025, highlighting the results in the fight against organized crime, drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons and other criminal offenses.

During May, 99 police operations were finalized, 34 of which were international in nature. 625 people suspected of criminal offenses were arrested, while 50 firearms, about 84 kg of cannabis, quantities of cocaine and 2861 cannabis seeds were seized. Money and assets with suspicious sources, worth about 415 thousand euros, were also blocked.

As part of the mega-operation "Coordination", 8,269 cannabis plants and seedlings were destroyed. In Tirana and Shkodra alone, 13 people were arrested for trafficking weapons for criminal groups, while in Durrës, 7 people, including 3 high-risk individuals, were arrested with weapons ready to fire in a restaurant.

10 serious criminal incidents were solved and 8 conflicts with the potential for escalation were prevented, including cases involving firearms. In Fier, a house adapted for the cultivation of narcotic plants with lamps was discovered, while in Tirana, a computer fraud "call center" was busted.

In addition, 22 anti-theft operations were completed and 13 cases of smuggling were cracked down on at border crossings. Illegal gambling activities and attempts at migrant trafficking were also disrupted.

The Traffic Police have continued with intensive monitoring, arresting 155 drivers, 107 for driving under the influence of alcohol and 48 without a driving license. 191 driving licenses have been suspended, while over 12 thousand fines have been imposed for speeding violations.

The Border Police has identified 50 cases of illegal border crossing, 22 attempts with false documents and 6 cases of motor vehicle trafficking.

The State Police underlines that it will continue the fight against crime without interruption and calls on citizens to denounce any illegality for immediate and effective intervention.
