Five people are arrested in Kapshtica, four of them border policemen

An operation carried out by the Police Supervision Agency (AMP) has led to the arrest of five people at the Kapshtica border crossing, among them four employees of the Border Police, including a shift manager.

The operation took place after the checks carried out the day before, where six kilograms of heroin were discovered and seized in a vehicle that was trying to cross the border. The driver of the vehicle was arrested in flagrante delicto for narcotics trafficking, while the four police officers were detained for abuse of duty, as they are suspected of allowing the passage of illegal goods.

According to the sources of the investigation, this case has been under observation for about 2-3 years, as there were suspicions of a structured network of people involved in the transportation of narcotics across the border with Greece.

The authorities have launched in-depth investigations to find out the possible involvement of other persons and the extent of the traffic network. Meanwhile, AMP has announced that the operation is part of efforts to fight corruption within border security structures.
