Following the fire that broke out the day before in the urban waste collection area in the "24 Maji" neighborhood in Vlora, the Police have launched investigations into five Municipality employees, including the Director of the Cleaning Company and officials of the Drainage Board.

According to the official announcement, the Crime Investigation Specialists at the Vlora Police Commissariat have referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office and have initiated criminal proceedings for:

FT, 31 years old, Director of the Cleaning Company in the Municipality of Vlora;
AS, 36 years old, responsible for the Drainage Board;
LD, 56 years old,
ED, 27 years old,
DI, 35 years old, all three with the duty of maneuverers in the Drainage Board company.
According to the police, the event occurred on June 7, 2025, at around 12:18, when as a result of high temperatures a fire broke out in the urban waste field in the “24 Maji” neighborhood. The aforementioned employees are suspected of not taking timely measures to extinguish the flames, thus contributing to the spread of the fire and environmental pollution.

Investigations continue to uncover the full circumstances of the incident and to determine the legal responsibilities of each of those prosecuted.
