The President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, today received a delegation of the Albanian National Council in Serbia, headed by the Chairman of this Council, Enkel Rexhepi.

The President of the Republic congratulated Rexhepi on taking office and assured him that he is closely following, as a constitutional duty, the entire situation of Albanians living in the Presheva Valley.

The Head of State emphasized that for the Institution of the President of the Republic, the protection of the fundamental rights and freedoms of Albanians, as well as the cultivation and advancement of their national and cultural identity, are the focus of its activity.

President Begaj called for more cooperation between the Albanians of the Valley and their political and institutional representatives.

"In all my meetings with international partners, I have raised and will continue to raise the issue of the passivation of addresses, the use and respect for the Albanian language, the preservation of the cultural identity of the Albanians of the Valley, as well as the issues of education in Albanian. But I ask from you more cooperation and strong commitment in protecting these legal rights of yours," - emphasized the President.

"In this position, I am an advocate for Albanians and Albania, and I will remain so even beyond this function," said the President of the Republic at the conclusion of this meeting.
