"He abused power"/ PD demands the immediate removal of Anuela Ristani

Dorjan Teliti, Advisor for Economic Affairs in the Democratic Party and at the same time Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Council of Tirana, has denounced the continuous abuses of public assets and finances in the Municipality of Tirana.

Referring to the footage published by the investigative show "Piranja", Teliti accuses the acting mayor, Anuela Ristani, of using public funds in function of personal and family interests, seriously violating ethics and the law.

"With voice and figure, we saw how not only was the Commanding Mayor not held responsible for the serious violation committed continuously by unfairly using the means of the Municipality for her personal interests and those of her relatives, but we also saw her attack not at all ethical, even with high notes of nervousness and extremely threatening tones towards the journalists who were doing their duty."– emphasizes Teliti.

In his statement, he demands an immediate investigation by the justice bodies, accountability in the Municipal Council and the immediate removal of Ristani from office, while reiterating that Tirana cannot continue to be treated as private property by the current rulers.

"Tirana deserves different, and change will come with free and fair elections, with early elections for the leadership of the largest municipality in the country. Tirana should no longer be treated as a private property but as an institution serving the needs of the city." - concludes Teliti.

Months pass, the mayors change, but the habits and abuses NO, they remain the same.

We had abuses and continue to have abuses with the finances and assets of the Municipality of Tirana.

Just two days ago, the courageous journalists of the show "Piranja" on Syri TV, gave the public with clear and indisputable evidence, the film footage of how the acting mayor of the Capital, Mrs. Anuela Ristani, abused the assets purchased with the taxpayers' money of Tirana.

With voice and figure, we saw how not only was the Commanding Mayor not held responsible for the serious violation committed continuously by unfairly using the means of the Municipality for her personal interests and those of her relatives, but we also saw her attack that was not at all ethical, even with high notes of nervousness and extremely threatening tones towards the journalists who were doing their duty.

According to the published images, the behavior of the commanding mayor at the head of Tirana constitutes an abuse of office, exploitation of state property for family benefits and a serious violation of the ethics of the public official.

The Democratic Party calls on the prosecution bodies to start investigations into the denunciation made by the show Piranjat. Also, on behalf of the opposition councilors, I request that the day after tomorrow, on Tuesday afternoon on which the next meeting of the Municipal Council is planned, an item on administrative accountability by Mrs. Ristani and the discussion on this scandal published by the show Piranjat, where instead of Tirana's money going to the construction of kindergartens, kindergartens, schools, or financing transport for teachers and students, we are allocated to finance the private interests of senior executives.

One thing is for sure, no one will be able to hide the truths and their publication.

The Democratic Party and its Councilors in the Municipal Council of Tirana, thank the journalistic courage of the team of the show "Piranja" and encourage them and not only, but every free media and every journalist who always and only focus on the denunciation of abuses and the disclosure of the truth, to continue in the future with the denunciation, case by case, of every person dressed in power, who undertake to unfairly benefit from the labor effort and taxes of honest Albanians.

Also, the Democratic Party demands the immediate removal of Mrs. Ristani from the position of commanding chairwoman and at the same time the dismissal of Veliaj an hour ago from the Council of Ministers.

Tirana deserves different, and change will come with free and fair elections, with early elections for the leadership of the largest municipality in the country. Tirana should no longer be treated as a private property but as an institution serving the needs of the city.
