A serious incident happened in Thessaloniki this Tuesday where a 47-year-old woman denounced her husband for violence, but the report caused her partner to threaten the children with their lives.

The 62-year-old put his children in the car and publicly threatened to blow up the vehicle, but the intervention of the authorities saved the children's lives.

The children's aunt, in a statement for Protothema, says that the 62-year-old never gave them the impression that he was violent, but they knew him as a serious man at work.

She says that this was the fourth time he beat her sister and that finally, she decided to report him to the police.

" He grabbed her by the throat, beat her. It had happened several times, but she was ashamed to say it. It had happened 4-5 more times, but that was the tipping point. He took the children, who are twins, into the car and showed them the cigarette lighter. No one cared what he intended to do. Within seconds my sister called the police. He invited her to come near the car, he planned to blow everything up and the four of them die together" , she says.

She believes that the 62-year-old had planned in advance what he wanted to do, having bought the gas canisters and had them in the car.

The 62-year-old man was put in handcuffs and accused of attempted serial murder, domestic violence, threats and possession of weapons without a permit. He has been given a deadline until Thursday to apologize to ease his position.
