Facebook starts the "battle" with TikTok: How you can make money from

Facebook has introduced a new feature that allows users to earn money from posts on 'Stories'.

The global monetization option is available to all users with 'creator' status who are part of the Facebook Content Monetization program.

With this innovation, the social media giant wants to offer a new source of income to users by encouraging them to post more.

'Creators' can monetize existing content

Users can earn money from the content they create and share by posting it to Facebook Stories. For example, if a creator makes a Reel, they can share a portion of it to Stories to earn money. This also applies to their regular content.

There is no threshold for benefits.

Payouts are determined by the performance of Stories. Users can earn money without having to reach a specific threshold for views. This new strategy aims to attract TikTok creators to Facebook and Instagram by offering them financial bonuses, content deals and support in growing their community.

Monetization program

Users enrolled in the Facebook Content Monetization program who have content monetization enabled don't need to take any additional action. The program, which was introduced last year, features ads during broadcasts, Reels, and performance bonuses. After testing with beta participants, Facebook is now enabling Story monetization for all users.

Future plans

In 2024, millions of creators were invited to join the program. Facebook plans to offer open enrollment this year. Users who are not part of the program can express interest through an invitation on the program's website. Since 2017, when it introduced monetization, Facebook has paid over 4 million users and said that during 2024, they earned over $2 billion from the platform.
