A 58-year-old man is arrested in Vlora, who was sentenced to 8 years in prison for drugs in Italy.

The police inform that Nikola Mersini was arrested, accused of drug trafficking, and his extradition to the neighboring country is expected.

The Narcotics Investigation Section is finalizing the police operation coded "Pursuit", for the capture of a citizen announced as an international wanted.


Convicted by Italy, with 8 years of imprisonment, for drug trafficking, caught in Vlora and arrested for the purpose of extradition, the 58-year-old declared internationally wanted.


Specialists of the Section for Narcotics Investigation, following the operations for the capture of the wanted citizens, which take place within the framework of the "Rule of Law" mega-operation, as well as as a result of the continuous exchange of information between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome , organized and finalized the coded police operation "Pursuit".


During the operation, the internationally wanted citizen was caught in the "10 Korriku" neighborhood and provisionally arrested, to be extradited to Italy:

Nikola Mersini, 58 years old, born in Lushnja and resident in Vlora.

The Italian judicial authorities have sentenced this citizen to 8 years of imprisonment (of which he has 7 years and 6 months left to serve), for the criminal offense "Trafficking in narcotics".

Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome are cooperating to extradite this citizen.
