Powerful earthquake in Turkey/ 151 injured after jumping from heights

A powerful 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the city of Istanbul on Wednesday afternoon, causing widespread concern across the country. The strong tremors were followed by numerous aftershocks, while Turkish authorities said there were no reports of casualties so far.

According to international media reports, 151 people were injured as a result of panic during the tremors. Many of them jumped from windows or balconies of apartments to escape, suffering injuries, but fortunately none are in danger of death.

"There was no loss of life. The treatment of 151 citizens who were injured after jumping from a height due to panic continues in hospitals and are not in danger of death," an official statement from the authorities said.

Meanwhile, Turkey's Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, has stated that all emergency forces have been placed on alert and are deployed on the ground to assist citizens and monitor the situation.

Initial reports indicate that there is no significant damage to residential buildings in the city, while civil protection structures are conducting inspections to ensure the safety of buildings.

Authorities call on citizens to remain calm and follow official instructions until the situation is fully normalized.
