A patient with 'Nile fever' is confirmed in Lushnja, he leaves for

One person has tested positive for the 'Nile fever' virus, in Savër neighborhood in Lushnjë. It is learned that the patient has gone to Greece for treatment.

Nile fever is spread by mosquitoes that feed on the blood of birds. The virus does not spread from person to person.

The incubation period for West Nile fever ranges from 2 to 15 days, and in milder forms the disease lasts from 3 to 6 days.

 About 80% of cases transmitted to humans do not manifest symptoms. When the symptoms appear they are very similar to the flu.

In general, this disease is curable, however, for about 1% of patients, it can degenerate into meningitis or encephalitis, especially in elderly people or those with weak immunity.
