Corruption in Albania, Escobar: A great challenge, the country must intensify progress in this direction
Gabriel Escobar held an online meeting with journalists, where he spoke about one of Albania's biggest problems, which is corruption. The US envoy for the Western Balkans said that this is the biggest challenge for the entire region.
"Corruption is the biggest challenge for the whole region and I want to see more progress in the region. In Albania, there has been a lot of progress in finding ways to punish corruption. I want to see more intensification in this direction", he said.
Escobar also answered the question about Albania's path to the EU.
"This agreement actually has a lot of work ahead, the EU will continue to facilitate the process. We set the points on how to proceed. Implementation should begin immediately. Very soon we will announce some initiatives for both countries, but also regarding integration", said Escobar.
