Forecasts for bad weather, the citizens of Vlora place sandbags to prevent flooding
Citizens of Vlora have started taking precautions to prevent flood damage, placing sandbags in front of businesses and homes, due to warnings of bad weather and rainfall. This has come after the traumatic experience of the floods on October 4, which caused great damage to the city.
The floods of October 4 brought serious consequences to the coastal city, where the neighborhoods of 'Albano and Romina', 'Leg Sallat', '28 November', as well as other areas of the city faced deep flooding. The situation was critical in some areas such as Jamia, Rilindja, Skela, Vavarësia and other streets such as 'Hasan Kushta' and 'Gjergj Araniti', where the water level reached up to 60 centimeters.
Due to the intense rains, 33 families were evacuated and 55 people spent the night in dormitories. Water and mud flooded homes and businesses, causing significant damage, but fortunately no one was injured. Local authorities are working to assess the exact damage, but there is still no complete balance of losses.
