A recent report by the DIA, presented to the Italian Parliament, has shown the links between Albanian drug gangs and Italian gangs, mainly in Puglia, Italy.

Italian media report that the report speaks of a consolidated relationship with Albanian drug trafficking gangs, which represent an important source of supply of marijuana, heroin, synthetic drugs of Asian origin and cocaine imported to Albania by Colombian narcotics.

Puglia gangs are confirmed as reference channels for drug narcotics. Focusing on the phenomenon of drug trafficking on the Albania-Puglia-Adriatic road, it is confirmed that organized crime in Puglia, using domestic and foreign supply channels, monitors drug flows.

The amount of drugs is imported mainly from the Adriatic to later cross into the region and finally directed to national and international trafficking markets.

The DIA report highlights the tendency of Albanian criminal groups to use channels managed by Puglia gangs to transport drugs to the international market. The report states that the numerous operations carried out in Italy, have consisted that the Puglia gangs are able to assist the Albanian gangs in the procedures of landing and storage of drugs.
