Transporting cannabis worth 10 thousand pounds to England, the Albanian "courier" is arrested
A 33-year-old Albanian man has been arrested by police in Britain after he was caught transporting cannabis worth almost 10,000 pounds. It is known that the Albanian, Mond Karaj, who has lived in the United Kingdom for five years, has been taken into custody.
Karaj worked as a drug courier in different cities. The Albanian was arrested after the police stopped him for a search in his car and found a sealed bag containing 985 grams of cannabis, which was worth almost 10,000 pounds.
At first he said the drugs belonged to a friend who had used the car earlier that day. However, he changed his version when he appeared in court and stated that he was the courier for the drugs found on him.
His fingerprints were found on a vacuum-sealed bag, meaning he had sealed the bag before transporting the drugs. The Albanian's defense lawyer said that the court's decision will affect the Home Office's decision on whether he can stay in the United Kingdom.
The judge said that the time Karaj has spent in custody has made him reflect and he has behaved well. It therefore decided that his sentence would be 12 months under state supervision and ordered that he carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
