Shot in the head, former Albanian policeman dies after 3 days

Fatos Cenaj, who was shot in the head on June 11. The former prison officer was found injured in the street on Sunday, June 8, with a bullet wound to his ear. He was 59 years old and had a completely normal life in Italy.

Fatos Cenaj arrived in Fontaniva, Italy, three years ago, after leaving Albania and taking off his prison guard uniform. It is also where Italian carabinieri searched for a possible motive, but found nothing that could explain the mystery.

In his career as a prison police officer, Cenaj was never involved in the news, partly because his role was remote in the service.

His working day, in fact, was almost always spent behind a desk, in an office, with little contact with prisoners. His name has never appeared in other types of investigations, neither in the Balkans nor in Italy.

The strongest lead now remains a blank bullet from a weapon tested in the area that accidentally caught the 59-year-old, a man who had no problems in the area.
