The embassies of the West and the EU office appeal to Kosovo: The government

The embassies of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and the Office of the European Union have issued a statement regarding Kosovo's decision to forcibly enter municipal buildings in the north of the country, expressing regret for this action.

In the statement they emphasize that it is important that the authorities of the Kosovar Government do not take new measures to forcibly enter the municipal buildings in Leposaviq, Zubin Potok and Zveçan.

These states also encourage elected leaders to show restraint and take action to represent and serve all members of their communities.

At the same time, embassies and the EU office make it clear that they are against threats or other actions that could endanger a secure environment, including freedom of movement, and that could cause tensions or conflicts.

Statement by the Embassies of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States and the Office of the European Union

We reiterate our statement of May 26 condemning Kosovo's decision to forcibly enter municipal buildings in northern Kosovo, despite our continued calls for restraint. In this context, Quinti and the EU expect that the authorities of the Government of Kosovo will not undertake any new measures to forcibly enter the municipal buildings in Leposaviq, Zubin Potok and Zveçan.

Elected leaders must also show restraint and take immediate action to demonstrate their commitment and responsibility to represent and serve all members of their communities.

At the same time, we strongly warn all parties against threats or other actions that could affect a safe and secure environment, including freedom of movement, and that could fuel tensions or fuel conflict.

We are particularly concerned about the safety and well-being of civilians, police officers, members of EULEX and KFOR. The new unilateral actions will negatively affect relations with the Quint countries and the EU.

Quinti and the EU emphasize that the EU-facilitated Dialogue is the path towards normalization of relations and acceptance into the EU. We remind the parties to work together in the next steps for the implementation of the Agreement reached between Kosovo and Serbia in February and March of this year, including the Association, and to participate constructively and sincerely in the future meetings of Dialogue.
