Sentenced to 1 year in prison for forging documents, Appeals Court makes

Renowned singer Luiz Ejlli has been declared innocent by the Court of Appeal, which overturned the decision of the Fier Court that had sentenced him to 1 year in prison for forging documents.

Today's decision was given in Tirana at 12:24 and completely overturned what was until now considered a criminal conviction against Ejllit. The Court of Appeal accepted the appeal filed by lawyers Arbër Hoxha and Dritan Metani, declaring the singer legally clean, but also Fatmir Avdurramani, whose name was linked to the notarial declaration in question.

The case essentially involved a declaration drawn up in 2015, a time when Ejlli, according to the file, was still using the notary's seal, even though he had been stripped of his right to practice this profession. The document was then submitted in 2022 to the Lushnja Prosecutor's Office, to justify alleged unjustified assets.
