EP calls for immediate lifting of measures against Kosovo

The European Parliament has adopted a resolution on Kosovo, through which it demanded the immediate lifting of the European Union's punitive measures, and called for a comprehensive and legally binding agreement with Serbia, based on mutual recognition.

The resolution emphasizes that Kosovo has met the required criteria for the lifting of these measures.

It also calls for the full normalization of relations between Pristina and Belgrade, a process that should be concluded with a lasting peace agreement.

The author of the draft resolution, MEP Riho Terras, stressed that the sanctions against Kosovo were unjust:

“We demand the immediate lifting of the European Union’s punitive measures. These have been unjust and unnecessary from the beginning. The EU funds many projects that support Kosovo’s European agenda — therefore we must end the sanctions and allow Kosovo to move forward with the resources we provide,” said Terras.
