The people of Elbasan have reserved a grand reception for the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, today. At the massive meeting held in Elbasan, the leader of the democrats presented the program of the DP and the Alliance for a Greater Albania.

He said, among other things, that on May 11th we will be freed from this regime where gangs make the law.

Berisha : Friends, for 12 years in Albania, a regime was built, which, not with hypercollectivization, not with confiscations, but with other mechanisms, impoverished Albanians to a level of poverty that none of the other surrounding nations had.
In 2013, we were not prosperous, but the citizens of Elbasan, the pensioners of Elbasan and Albania, were paid better than all the citizens of the region.
In 2013, people moved freely, but again the Albanians in Albania and Elbasan increased every year and more.
In 2013, the rotation of power took place, a major act in the democracy of any country. But it was chosen after this year that Albania would be covered with drugs and crime.
After this year, pensions and salaries were frozen. The food supply was reduced. It no longer fed all family members.
Jobs began to be destroyed.
Children, young people were forced to take the dirt roads.
The law was taken over by gangs and bandits.
Friends, the law, which should guarantee the freedoms and rights of citizens, their property, was taken over by ministers, the prime minister and other gangs and used against citizens.
Poverty increased from year to year.
Prices reached the stratosphere.
And we found ourselves once again the worst paid people in the region.
We found ourselves with the highest prices in the region and in the world.
Thousands of businesses were closed.
Thousands of farms went bankrupt.
In 10 years, more than any other nation in Europe and the world, 45 percent of Albanians left Albania.
So, a reversal occurred that we had never known in history.
But it is to your credit, to your courage, to your patriotism, citizens of Elbasan and Albania, that hope was restored this spring.
That you transformed this spring into a spring of hope, faith and victory.
Therefore, I have boundless gratitude towards you.
That's why I'm here today to give you my word, to pledge more solemnly that in 100 days and only in 100 days we will drive extreme poverty out of every Albanian home.
We will banish misery from Albania.
That in 100 days, every pensioner who today receives a pension of 172 lekë and there are about 560 thousand, will receive a pension of 200 euros.
That every wage earner will receive a salary of no less than 500 euros.
That every pensioner and wage earner will receive food and basic necessities 20 percent cheaper than others.
That every Albanian citizen will pay for energy with 7 lekë.
That every Albanian citizen will have a reduction in the price of oil by at least 40 percent.
That's why I'm here today in this square to make a solemn pledge that in 100 days, every businessman in Elbasan will pay for energy three times cheaper, from 18 to 6 lekë.
I am here to give the word to small businesses that municipalities will never tax more than 1 percent of turnover.
That public space will be divided by 5 times its tariff.
The price of water for them will be halved.
The ceiling will be increased to 180 thousand euros for profit tax and VAT.
VAT will be reduced to 15 percent.
Every business that pays profit tax will only pay 10 percent. 13 percent less, so.
Every employee who pays profit tax on income of 23 percent will pay 10 percent and will have an immediate salary increase of 13 percent.
