Kosovo in political deadlock, attempt to constitute Parliament fails again

The 12th attempt to constitute the Kosovo Assembly has failed. The constitutive session began on April 15th and since then only two agenda items have been passed.

The impasse has been created on the third point, which is the election of the Speaker of the Assembly.

56 MPs voted in favor, 1 against and no abstentions. The next session will take place in 48 hours, on May 9th.

Elbert Krasniqi, from the New Democratic Initiative of Kosovo (IRDK), criticized the invitation of the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, for Albanian political parties to come together for a transitional government.

"This exclusionary approach is not in the spirit of the Republic of Kosovo, in the multiethnic spirit of the Republic of Kosovo," said Krasniqi, alongside Emilija Rexhepi, from the New Democratic Party, and Nenad Rashiqi, from the Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival.

At the conference held yesterday, Abdixhiku invited Albanian political parties to form a transitional government, without mentioning minorities. However, in his letter sent to Albin Kurti of LVV, he also mentions minorities, which he proposes to also participate "according to constitutional provisions."
