Greek police have arrested 28 people in Thessaloniki during a wide-ranging operation against a nationalist organization suspected of violent and racist activities. According to authorities, 15 adults and 13 minors are among the detainees, while the head of the organization known as the "Nationalist Youth of Thessaloniki" has also been arrested.

The arrested are suspected of being involved in a number of criminal offences, including theft, racist violence, incitement to violence and other criminal activities. Authorities have documented their involvement in several incidents during 2024 and 2025, including the clash of 28 February 2025 in Thessaloniki, during a march towards the Tempi area. During that incident, people with Greek flags clashed with members of anarchist groups outside the New Railway Station.

Nationalist youth are also suspected of being involved in writing nationalist and racist slogans in various schools in the city. According to investigations, the activity of this organization began in 2019, was temporarily suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, and has resumed with intensity since 2024.

The police operation was carried out on Wednesday morning by the State Security Section, while the arrests were carried out in the suspects' residences, including in areas such as Evangelistria. Searches were also carried out in homes and other premises related to the activities of the arrested.

Investigations continue to document all of the organization's illegal activities and identify other individuals involved.
