The PD-SP agreement on Electoral Reform is reached: the vote of immigrants is

SP and PD seem to have reached an agreement on Electoral Reform. The two parties have agreed that the lists will be 1/3 closed and 2/3 open. The argument they brought for this decision is the maintenance of gender quotas.

This means that the party will have more power than the voter to determine who will be a member of parliament in the 2025 elections, so 77% of the list will still be closed.

The parties have also agreed to pave the way for the vote of immigrants who have a correct residential address to vote.

Meanwhile, the point that separated the two parties was the way the mandates will be divided. The Socialists had as a condition setting a threshold of 7 thousand votes to break the quotient, while the Democrats demanded 100% open lists.

In the draft, SP has waived the threshold of 7,000 votes, while the Democrats have accepted that 1/3 of the list in each district be closed.
