"Hocus Pocus 3" is officially confirmed

Hocus Pocus 3 is bringing Sarah Jessica Parker's magical sisters Bette Wilder and Kathy Najimy back to our screens in the form of a third film. Disney boss Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, confirmed the exciting news in a recent interview with the New York Times: "Yes, Hocus Pocus 3 is happening."

This follows the success of the Hocus Pocus sequel, Hocus Pocus 2, on Disney+ in 2022 – after 30 years, fans were excited for a revisit to the magical universe. 2.7 billion minutes were streamed during Hocus Pocus 2's launch weekend, and it was also the fifth most streamed movie of the year, with a grand total of 5.7 billion minutes watched.

No specific scenes have been confirmed, however one Hocus Pocus character in particular has suggested that the third iteration may not be live-action. Sarah Jessica Parker, who will be back on our screens very soon with a brand new season of the Sex and the City And Just Like That reboot, revealed in a September 2022 interview with Entertainment Weekly that there had been talks about a version animated Hocus Pocus.

So, while nothing has been confirmed, we could be getting a completely different take on the witch sisters for the third part of their story. Sarah said:

'Kathy had a good idea that the third one should be animated. That would be a nice and clever idea. It's fun, it's funny, and it can be interesting and innovative, like old-fashioned [animation] or new. Of course I'd be happy to have a chat, it just depends on what Kathy and Bette want!"

So far, we don't have a concrete cast list for Hocus Pocus 3, but we can take a reasonable guess that the legendary trio of Bette Milder, Kathy Najimy and, of course, Sarah Jessica Parker will be involved in the new story. We're also hoping for appearances from Hocus Pocus 2 stars Whitney Peak (Becca), Lilia Buckingham (Cassie) and Belissa Escobedo (Izzy), who brought the original Sanderson sisters back to life in the sequel.
