"Decision that will prolong the war", Vucic on the arrest warrant against Putin: There will be serious political consequences

"Decision that will prolong the war", Vucic on the arrest warrant

The issuance of an arrest warrant for the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin by the International Criminal Court has shocked the media around the world and could be a strong signal that will turn the fortunes of the war in Ukraine.

The president of Serbia, Aleksandër Vucic, also reacted to this , saying that this decision will have serious political consequences and will only serve to prolong the war.

"My question is now that you have accused him of the biggest crimes of the war, who will you talk to now?", added Vucic.

"Do you really think it is possible to defeat Russia in a month, three months or a year?" he further said.

He told reporters in Belgrade that the arrest warrant "will have political consequences" and indicated that "there is a great reluctance to talk about peace and a possible ceasefire" in Ukraine.

Vucic was asked if Putin would be arrested if he visited Serbia. He said that this was a useless question because as long as the war continues, the Russian president has nowhere to go.

Serbia has maintained a close relationship with Russia throughout the conflict and is the only European country that has not imposed international sanctions against Moscow.
