Will there be power outages? The director of KESH explains the situation

As the country is facing an energy crisis, on October 1st, the energy bandages will be restored. All family subscribers who spend more than 800 kilowatts/hour will pay more.

The director of KESH, Ergys Verdho, told Euronews Albania that if this winter will be dry and with little rain, then they will turn to imports.

"We preferred to use the energy reserve. Today as we speak there is a significant power shortage of 4 gigawatt hours in the region, it means that many of these generators have stopped production due to repairs and soon they will be back and on the 12th every generator in the region will be working. So the lack of energy in the market leads to an increase in the price, their arrival, the price drops," said Verdho.

Asked if there will be power cuts, Verdho said that the limit is up to 800 kilowatts/hour. If the consumption falls below the value, there will be no need for a power cut.

"When the consumption falls below 800 kilowatts, there will be no interruption because the electric power corporation will not go out to import, it will produce only from its reserves, and it has never happened in the history of the power corporation to start from June 2021 and until August so that there is no rain," said Verdho.
