For the first time, the number of high school graduates competing for university falls below 20,000
The interest of graduates who will compete for university this academic year decreases.
Thus, out of 28,000 high school graduates across the country, about 19,700 have applied to gain a right to study at the country's public and private universities. So, for the first time, the number of applicants to universities drops below 20,000, declares Arjan Xhelaj, head of the Albanian Academic Network.
"We have 19,713 graduates who have expressed their desire to continue their studies in Albania and have filled out the form, it is a good figure, a number with slightly lower values than last year, but with a minimal percentage ," he said. in Klan News.
According to the head of the Albanian Academic Network, engineering and information technology are the most preferred by young people.
"The young people's preference this year, just like last year, is confirmed for engineering, technology and IT, which together have about 27%, followed by medical sciences and nursing with about 21.7% and in third place are economic sciences, slightly more than 16%, which is a good performance. But I would say IT has an even better performance because in the group of engineering branches IT leads with about 13.9%-14% , he said.
The registration of the winners of the first round at the university will take place starting from August 30 to September 13.
