EU Commissioner: EU to support Western Balkans in addressing COVID-19 emergency

Redirected and re-programmed funds will support Western Balkans in addressing consequences of COVID-19 crisis, European Union Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Oliver Varhelyi said in a Twitter post yesterday. He announced that after a virtual college on Wednesday, he received backing to mobilize, redirect and re-programme funds to support neighbours east and south, and in the Western Balkans, in addressing consequences of COVID-19 crisis, their respective economies included.

Varhelyi added that EU is also working on integration of their partners in European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and other relevant structures, plus providing support for repatriation of EU citizens wishing to return home from third countries.
