Poland issues guidelines for citizens on how to prepare in case of war

The Polish government has issued a guide on how to prepare for a crisis such as war. Poland instructs the public on what to do during attacks with weapons ranging from conventional to chemical and nuclear, and describes the public warning systems that will be used in such events.

The guide advises people to reserve water, food, medicine, batteries and torches in case of power outages. Although the government said it was obliged to prepare the public for various scenarios, it denied that the guide had anything to do with the war in Ukraine. Previous guides had included situations such as floods and severe winter weather.

However, the threat of Russian occupation may be on the minds of some in Poland, which borders Ukraine. While Russia has mainly focused its war efforts on northern, southern and eastern Ukraine, it has carried out bombings in the western city of Lviv - 43 miles from the Polish border.

There is no specific information that Russia is planning an attack on Poland, or that Poland is expecting one, but there are fears that Russia may try to expand its occupation to neighboring countries.
