Kaso: Voting in Greece is deteriorating, envelopes are being left at betting

The Secretary for Laws and Electoral Affairs at the Democratic Party, Ivi Kaso, spoke about the scandal with diaspora voting in Greece.

Kaso said in a statement from the blue headquarters that voting in Greece has degraded, denouncing how envelopes with ballots are left at betting points.

According to him, the envelopes can be taken by anyone who shows up to collect them.

"The distribution process is proceeding according to the predictions that were the guarantee of this process, so it was based on several important elements, one of which was the individualization of the citizen to whom the vote would be delivered."

The regulation and instruction provide for detailed rules, personal contact with the citizen more than once, and if the citizen is not found after 3 attempts, then the envelope would wait at the nearest DHL office until the citizen presented an identification document, and this has been and remains the guarantee element of the process.

In the case of Greece, by contracting out this process, using betting and gambling outlets mainly, the process has degraded to the point where it is contracted out, they give it to anyone who presents themselves as if they know x person to whom the envelope will be delivered.

"Necessary instructions have been given to file complaints with the police, to file complaints with the number that DHL has left, or to file them on the platform, but unfortunately this does not solve the problem. We call on the Election Commission to ensure that this process goes smoothly and in the end, despite the challenges ," Kaso declared.
