Toxic waste/ Muçollari: Testing and verification of materials will be

The member of the leadership of the Democratic Party, Grigels Muçollari, has reacted regarding the return of 102 containers with hazardous waste to the Port of Durrës.

In a statement to the media, he said that with the seizure of the containers by the prosecutor's office, the testing and verification of the cases will be closed, just as, according to him, the majority wanted.

Declaration:

Ships with suspicious remains have arrived in Durrës today. As expected, the government will do everything to control the testing and admissions process, to hide the truth. The prosecution of Durrës entered the game and seized the containers.

This means we will have a closed testing and verification. Exactly what the government wants.

And the result that will emerge from the investigation will certainly be the one that suits Edi Rama. Can anyone believe today that two prosecutors in Durrës are able to reveal and make public the truth, the truth revealed by Edi Rama, Mirela Kumbaron, Belinda Ballukun, Piro Vengu and many other leaders, implicated in international traffic of harmful, poisonous or toxic substances?

Whoever believes this, is ready to believe that in those containers, there are flowers, there are roses.

This is a very serious crime based on the Basel Convention, to which we adhere. This is the responsibility of the Albanian government alone and only it should be held accountable, nationally and internationally.

Today we call on the prosecutors of Durrës not to become tools of the government's interests and not to manipulate the case to protect Edi Rama. Their responsibility before the law, before public opinion, before the health and life of citizens and their families, is very big.

We repeat the request for transparent waste testing and in the eyes of the media, the public, and international experts.

According to the investigation carried out by the Basel network in Thailand, shocking data were found in the soil samples taken near the containers. It is about alarming toxic data of dangerous substances.

Arsenic alone was 250 times above the allowed rate.

We fully support the findings, arguments and options presented by the Basel Network, the organization that was the first to signal this scandal, with the waste that left on July 4 from the port of Durrës, but was rejected by Thailand, suspected of being toxic and that today they returned to the place where they left.

The Democratic Party calls on citizens to react, calls on civil society organizations to play their role.

Hazardous waste threatens our lives, the environment and our children. We cannot allow Edi Rama to do business with them, and we will not allow him to hide the truth.
