The Chairperson of the Health Commission, Zheni Gjergji, has stated that the draft law "On sexual and reproductive health" was drafted in secret by a working group that is also kept secret.

In a press conference, Gjergji said that the bill in question precedes the complete destruction of the concept of family and motherhood. Gjergji pointed out that today a pregnant woman cannot even receive basic services, as there is no control from public institutions.

"Drafted in secret in private clinics that block public services during the day and give life to uncontrolled activities at night, this initiative paves the way for a reproductive health monopolist if the Ministry of Health defines and licenses experts in the field of assisted reproduction with Albanian criteria destroying sexual health and assisted reproductive services. The working group is kept secret, because it is completely illegal, being in a conflict of interest.

This draft law precedes the complete destruction of the concept of family, motherhood and continuity of life, especially the female sex, without a check from public and health institutions.

There is talk of safe motherhood and pregnancy, only in the definitions of the law from the end it is understood, but meanwhile a pregnant woman today cannot receive any basic pregnancy follow-up service free of charge as the current law has and this will continue to be a facade.

As for the concept of surrogacy, surrogate mother, the law has provided that this act will be carried out through a written agreement through the parties, abusive legal space. This act in the countries where it is recognized is carried out through a court decision that deals with civil cases. In Europe, the powerful countries have banned it as it affects women in difficult economic conditions. This agreement paves the way for massive abuse and modern slavery, turning Albania into a large criminal laboratory", declared Gjergji.
