Malltezi: Within one day they seized my accounts, properties and shares

After nearly two years under house arrest, Jamarbër Malltezi, the son-in-law of Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha, spoke in an interview with "News24", describing his detention as a politically motivated and unnecessary act from a legal and human point of view.

"In my case, there were no extraordinary circumstances that justified the deprivation of liberty. It was a political order, implemented through the subordination of judges," Malltezi said, emphasizing that his punishment was intended to hit his family's political figure.

He also denounced the seizure of his assets: "I am the only person in the Republic who, on the first day of my arrest, had all my bank accounts seized, over 70% of my properties, and all my shares in three private companies taken away. Find me a bandit who had half of this happen to him in one day."

Malltezi added that a property guarantee had been placed on him, which he described as a result of “fear of judges.” He defended the ownership of his assets, emphasizing: “Yes, I have property, but this is not a crime, it is the result of my work.”

In a personal and reflective tone, he expressed regret that he had not been able to be with his family during this difficult period, but added that he had faced the challenge with dignity.
