Drug trafficking and criminal group, GJKKO leaves three defendants in prison

The Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime has rejected requests for the release from prison of three detainees accused of international drug trafficking.

The court upheld the security measure "prison arrest" for citizens Baki Huqi, Aldi Zonja and Ismajl Abdurrahmani , accepting the objections presented by SPAK.

All three had filed requests since April 2025, requesting a review of the security measure through an assessment of the conditions. But the GJKKO joined the requests and with a unified decision rejected them, leaving in force the measures imposed on November 18, 2024.

Decision of the Special Court:

"Applicant Baki Huqi on 08.04.2025, applicant Ismajl Abdurrahmani on 15.04.2025 and applicant Aldi Zonja on 11.04.2025, have filed with the Court the requests with the following subject:

"Assessment of the conditions of the security measure "arrest in prison" determined by decision no. 140, dated 18.11.2024 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime; Deposit of information by the Special Prosecution Office regarding the conduct of investigative actions."

In the court session on 17.04.2025, the above requests were merged into a single one.

2. At the end of the trial, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a panel composed of Judge Irena Gjoka, based on Articles 112, 228, 229, 230, 238, 246 point 6, 249 and 260 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, with decision no. 215, dated 10.07.2025, decided:

1. The continuation of the implementation of the coercive personal security measure "arrest in prison" provided for by Article 238 of the Criminal Procedure Code, determined by decision No. 140, dated 18.11.2024 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, against the citizen under investigation Baki HUQI, son of A. and M., born on ****, born in **** and residing in ****, with citizenship ****, with civil status ****, with judicial status ****, suspected of committing the criminal offenses "Drug trafficking" committed in the special form of cooperation, that of a structured criminal group, provided for by Articles 283/a/l and 28/4 of the Criminal Code; "Structured criminal group" provided for by Article 333/a and "Commitment of criminal offenses by criminal organization and structured criminal group" provided for by Article 334 of the Criminal Code.

2. Continuation of the implementation of the coercive personal security measure "prison arrest" provided for by Article 238 of the Criminal Procedure Code, determined by decision No. 140, dated 18.11.2024 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, against the citizen under investigation Ismajl ABDURRAHMANI, son of K. and F., date of birth ****, born in ****, resident in ****, with judicial status ****, with family status ****, with ****, with nationality ****, suspected of committing the criminal offenses "Drug trafficking" committed in the special form of cooperation, that of a structured criminal group, provided for by Articles 283/a/l and 28/4 of the Criminal Code; "Structured criminal group" provided for by article 333/a and "Committing criminal offenses from Rruga “Jordan Misja” No.1, 1057 Tirana; tel/fax 0035542231527; ykyta.gov.al criminal organization and structured criminal group" provided for by article 334 of the Criminal Code.

3. Continuation of the implementation of the coercive personal security measure "arrest in prison" provided for by Article 238 of the Criminal Procedure Code, determined by decision No. 140, dated 18.11.2024 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, against the citizen under investigation Aldi ZONJA, son of A. and A., of date of birth ****, born in **** and residing at the address: ****, with citizenship ****, with education ****, with civil status ****, with judicial status ****, suspected of committing the criminal offenses "Drug trafficking" committed in the special form of cooperation, that of a structured criminal group, provided for by Articles 283/a/l and 28/4 of the Criminal Code; "Structured criminal group" provided for by Article 333/a and "Commitment of criminal offenses by criminal organization and structured criminal group" provided for by Article 334 of the Criminal Code.

4. The parties have the right to appeal this decision, within five days, to the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, starting this deadline from the day after the communication of the reasoned decision.
